Join ReOrbit's mission to deliver GEO capabilities in a smaller, faster, and more cost-effective package through the SiltaSat project.

As a Senior Payload Engineer, you will be part of the technical lead team for Small Satcom payloads, working end-to-end from design and development through AIT. Your expertise in RF and optical engineering at board and system level will shape the future of GEO communications payloads.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical strategy and architectural design of communication payloads, including RF and optical components
  • Budget and maintain payload parameters: mass, power consumption, dissipation and performance specifications
  • Define and analyse all payload components, from passive units and RF active units to digital and optical elements
  • Interface with teams responsible for other satellite subsystems and resolve cross-subsystem technical problems
  • Develop relationships with suppliers to define design, manufacturing and AIT requirements
  • Define and prepare Statements of Work and specifications; work with the program team to ensure design implementation
  • Work jointly with the AIT team to design and execute integration and test activities at subsystem and satellite level
  • Develop test specifications and procedures
  • Prepare subsystem documentation and AIT activities based on the architecture

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of real-world experience with comms payload system architecture, requirements definition, flow-down, tracking and system-level analyses
  • Strong experience with geostationary satellites
  • Experience in design or implementation of RF equipment for telecom satellites: SSPAs, TWTs, distributed amplifiers, phased arrays, passive units such as filters and switches
  • Experience in design or implementation of digital processors (transparent or regenerative) for satellites
  • Ability to analyse data, derive conclusions, and manage design documentation; review and approve design changes
  • Ability to trade-off and optimise performance, resolve complex technical problems, and manage technical work with partners
  • Extensive experience with relevant system modelling and analysis tools: electromagnetic simulation, antenna simulation, general-purpose coding tools
  • Autonomous, proactive and team-oriented working style
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Experience in ground segment is a plus
