ReOrbit is seeking a Senior Electric Propulsion Engineer to lead propulsion system development for our Small Satcom project. You will join an experienced team working to shrink GEO satellite size and cost while maintaining performance and mission life.

This role is based in Helsinki, Finland or Bengaluru, India.

What you will do

  • Analyse mission requirements and define propulsion operation modes for all mission phases (orbit raising, GEO station keeping)
  • Conduct EPS trade-off analysis and define subsystem architecture
  • Evaluate thruster layout and configuration options
  • Assess thruster pointing mechanism alternatives (gimbals, arms) and implementation constraints
  • Specify EPS requirements based on system analysis
  • Develop propellant budget and allocation strategies for GEO operations
  • Create tools to estimate maneuvers and fuel allocation
  • Analyse interfaces across mechanical, thermal, electrical and system levels
  • Contact vendors, select components, and review supplier specifications and test results
  • Plan and oversee manufacturing, assembly, integration and test activities
  • Document EPS subsystem architecture, analysis and component selections
  • Develop subsystem assembly, integration and test plans

What you bring

  • Minimum 10 years in propulsion engineering or related disciplines (mechanical, mechatronics) in the GEO space industry
  • Professional experience with electrical propulsion subsystems
  • Proven experience on GEO communication satellite projects including operations
  • Ability to analyse data, derive conclusions and manage design documentation
  • Experience reviewing and approving design changes
  • Comfortable working with external vendors and consortium partners
  • Strong collaborative teamwork skills
