The Team and Your Role
Our international Avionics team designs every avionics device on the vehicle: engine control units, actuators, power distribution, and onboard cameras. As Group Lead Avionics Hardware Design, you will combine technical and people leadership. You will guide avionics architecture and design standards while supervising, mentoring, and growing a team of design engineers. You will set standards for how we design, review, and release hardware and ensure your team has what it needs to succeed.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead a team of avionics design engineers: plan work, coach growth, keep them unblocked and motivated
- Own avionics architecture and interoperability between devices, ensuring coherent system-level hardware integration
- Own the team's design process, standards, documentation, configuration control, and change management
- Chair hardware design reviews, maintaining design quality across schematics, PCB layout, and system-level decisions
- Bridge Systems Engineering and hardware, translating system-level requirements into hardware direction
- Drive cross-disciplinary design trade-offs with software, mechanical, and production teams
- Steer designs to meet applicable environmental standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810) for reliable performance in extreme conditions
- Stay technically hands-on: support engineers on tough design problems and contribute directly to design tasks in Altium when needed
- Help recruit, onboard, and scale the team
- Keep engineering leadership informed on progress, technical risks, and resourcing needs
Your Qualifications
- Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years designing complex mixed-signal electronics with deep knowledge of PCB layout, signal integrity, and power integrity
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium preferred) and circuit simulation tools (LTspice, PSpice, etc.)
- Track record of leading, mentoring, or coaching engineers with technical authority to set standards and run rigorous design reviews
- Seniority to think at architecture and process level for a whole hardware group, not just individual designs
- Background designing for aerospace environments (DO-160, MIL-STD-810); equivalent experience from high-reliability industries (automotive, medical, defense) also valued
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM), taking hardware from prototype to production
- Exposure to mechanical integration, thermal design, and actuators is a plus
- Self-driven, accountable working style with high personal standards
- Fluent English; day-to-day work is in English
