Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) builds low-cost, flexible, and reliable small launch vehicles to deploy satellites into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and beyond. We work with an international team to advance European space access.
The Role
You will join the Institutional Projects Team within Program Management. This team manages externally funded projects in partnership with ESA and other organisations, supporting definition, study, and planning for future technologies, systems, engines, and vehicles.
Your Tasks
- Support the development of a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of RFA's launch vehicle
- Collect and analyse environmental data for the three stages of RFA's launch vehicle
- Support the development of the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) for the launch vehicle
- Support the assessment of environmental impacts based on the LCA results
- Analyse the environmental footprint of key propellants, including LOX and RP-1
- Support environmental trade-off studies for different materials, propellants, and design options
- Identify opportunities to reduce environmental impacts during manufacturing, ground operations, and launch operations
- Support the development of RFA's long-term environmental and sustainability strategy
- Prepare technical reports and presentations of LCA results for internal and external stakeholders
- Support management of RFA's institutional projects funded by external stakeholders (ESA, European Commission, governmental institutions)
- Support Business Development and contribute to proposal writing for funded projects
- Support technical work of funded projects including mission and technical requirements, design studies, trade-offs, system architectures, and preliminary concepts
Your Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Aerospace, Space Engineering, or similar discipline
- Prior work experience in the space industry and Life Cycle Assessment is a plus
- Knowledge of European funding programs and proposal processes (Boost!, ELC, etc.) is a plus
- Technical affinity and enthusiasm about New Space
- Strong writing and formatting skills with good command of Microsoft Office
- Business-fluent English, both spoken and written. German fluency is a plus
- Strong time management, team-player attitude, and emotional intelligence
- Independent, proactive, and structured approach to work
- Cost and risk awareness, along with strong business acumen
