Rocket Lab Robotics
Rocket Lab Robotics specializes in high-performance robotic systems and precision mechanisms for ambitious space missions. You will work on hardware that has operated on NASA's Mars Perseverance Rover, supported the CADRE lunar rover program, and developed precision mechanisms for spacecraft subsystems including solar array drives, antenna gimbals, and optical payloads.
The Role
Based in Pasadena, CA, you will participate in the development and test of avionics hardware for robotics programs. You will work collaboratively with engineers across disciplines and participate in all aspects of electrical hardware development, from requirements definition through design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production.
What You Will Do
- Gain experience in robotics and motor control applications
- Gain experience in FPGA and microcontroller applications
- Own end-to-end Electronic Ground Support Equipment
- Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer
- Conduct circuit analysis, including stress analysis and worst-case analysis
- Execute PCBA design verification testing and system integration testing
- Provide production manufacturing support as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, or other engineering discipline
- Strong background in analog electronics design
- Proficiency performing circuit analyses in SPICE and Excel
- Proficiency with basic electronic lab equipment: power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, soldering irons
- Experience with FPGA design in professional or school environment
- Experience with microcontroller design in professional or school environment
- U.S. citizenship required due to program requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing for space environments, including radiation impacts and mitigation
- Proficiency with board bring-up and debug
- Experience creating design verification test plans and test execution
- Experience designing for high-reliability aerospace applications
- Experience designing rigid-flex PCBs and electromechanical design
Compensation
Base salary: $82,400 to $103,000 USD. Total compensation including equity: $89,350 to $115,025 USD. Equity grant value is designed around function, level, experience, and other factors; realized value depends on vesting and stock-price performance.
