The Neutron Programme
Neutron is a reusable medium-lift launch vehicle designed for mega constellations, high-assurance payloads, and human spaceflight. You'll be part of the clean-sheet development team building this new platform.
What You'll Do
- Create and implement assembly and test procedures for Neutron launch vehicles
- Work closely with system owners to develop and document procedures
- Lead and train technicians in aerospace standards and best practices for flight component installation and testing
- Provide hands-on guidance to technician teams during assembly and test implementation
- Troubleshoot unforeseen issues and drive workflow improvements and efficiency
- Specify and set up technician workstations and tooling for integration
- Support rapid Neutron processing across Rocket Lab facilities
- Collaborate with Rocket Lab production teams at Space Structures Complex (Baltimore, MD), Long Beach (CA), Auckland (New Zealand), and Stennis Space Center (MS)
Required Experience
- 2+ years of assembly and/or test experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment
- High School diploma or GED
Preferred Experience
- Assembly and testing of launch vehicle fluid systems (pneumatic, cryogenic, electrical)
- Maintenance skills including troubleshooting, precision cleaning, disassembly/assembly, and system testing
- Equipment operation: forklift, telehandler, boom lift, scissor lift, power tools, torque wrenches
- Cleanroom work and ISO cleanliness standards knowledge
- Fabrication skills: tube bending, tube flaring, mechanical assembly
- Avionics installation and harness routing
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for entire shifts (8+ hours) on various work surfaces
- Climb ladders and work at elevated heights, in small spaces, awkward positions, and tight areas
- Perform repetitive motions including bending, twisting, reaching, grasping, pushing, pulling, stooping
- Use hands with precision to handle, control, and operate tools, instruments, and equipment
- Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 25 lbs
- Work in varied environments with exposure to noise, temperature variations, and moving machinery
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and varied shifts as needed
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range for Virginia: $25 to $33 USD per hour. Compensation includes company stock or cash incentives, discounted stock purchase programme, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, paid vacation/holidays/sick leave, paid parental leave, and other perks.
