RAN Test Engineer — NTN eNodeB y gNodeB Verified today
About Sateliot
Sateliot is a satellite company headquartered in Barcelona, founded in 2018. We have built the first satellite constellation that allows standard commercial devices to communicate directly from space. Our technology delivers affordable, secure connectivity where terrestrial networks cannot reach.
The Role
You will manage test benches in our laboratory where we validate non-terrestrial NB-IoT and 5G NR base stations before they reach orbit. You'll work with the engineers who develop the radio access stack and the RAN Test Architect who defines validation requirements.
What You Will Do
- Manage test benches: prepare and execute test campaigns on our NTN eNodeB and gNodeB using SDR equipment, channel emulation, and our own test terminal.
- Build test automation and own it: convert manual campaigns into regression suites that run with each code change, keeping them fast enough for the team to actually use.
- Execute test specifications from the RAN Test Architect and flag gaps when you have equipment in front of you.
- Analyze protocol traces and logs to pinpoint where failures occur (stack, device, or link) and report them so developers can act without re-reproducing from scratch.
- Keep the laboratory operational: manage configuration, equipment, and records of what has been tested on which build.
- Support field test campaigns and in-orbit validation when features reach that phase.
- Grow toward the stack: work alongside developers with a senior engineer reviewing your work and providing mentorship to transition from testing radio access software to writing it.
What You Bring
- Hands-on lab experience with mobile radio access (NB-IoT, LTE, or 5G NR) using real equipment, not just simulation.
- Test automation and scripting in Python or equivalent language, with a habit of automating anything you have done twice by hand.
- Protocol analysis: you read a trace and form a hypothesis rather than forward a log.
- Sufficient foundation in 3GPP radio access procedures to follow a specification and know whether what you observe meets it.
- Rigor to document what was tested, on which build, and with what result.
Nice to Have
- Experience with open source radio access stacks: srsRAN, OpenAirInterface, Amarisoft or similar.
- Knowledge of non-terrestrial networks, IoT NTN from Release 17 or Store and Forward operation.
- CI/CD experience for embedded or radio software.
- C or C++ beyond scripting, and desire to grow toward radio access development.
- Experience with AI-assisted development and analysis tools.
Requirements
- Reside in Barcelona: the laboratories and team are here, and this role requires hands-on work with equipment.
- Availability for occasional travel to field test campaigns.
- Professional English proficiency.
