Job Summary
Avionics Technicians fabricate wire harnesses and cables for electrical and electronic equipment systems used in satellites and space system components for the International Space Station, Artemis and Orion programs, and commercial programs. You will also assemble satellite buses, subsystems, and complex electromechanical projects.
This position is 100% onsite in Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Measure, cut, solder, and crimp wire and contacts to fabricate wire harnesses
- Read work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials and assembly sequence
- Assemble cables, satellite buses, and electromechanical systems
- Perform potting of connectors to protect from water and dust intrusion
- Label and package cable harness assemblies for shipment
- Adhere to Quality Management Systems standards and procedures
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a respectful, inclusive culture
- Other duties as assigned
Required Experience and Education
- Three (3+) years' experience as an electrical or cable fabrication technician or relevant industry experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in related field preferred
- Experience with wire crimping and connector soldering
- Experience reading engineering drawings, wire diagrams, and electrical schematics
- IPC J-Std-001 and/or IPC-620 certification; NASA 8739.4 certified
- Electromechanical systems and assembly background
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve problems
- Ability to collaborate across teams to reach common goals
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force to carry, lift, push, pull, or move objects
- Daily use of computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headset
Eligibility and Clearance
- U.S. Person status required (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for ITAR authorization)
- Subject to background investigation and drug screening
- Drug-free workplace: testing for marijuana, cocaine, opioids, amphetamines, PCP, and alcohol
Schedule and Travel
- 1st shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM; 2nd shift: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (15-minute break, 30-minute unpaid lunch)
