We are seeking skilled Avionics Technicians at multiple levels to support our aerospace vehicle development. These positions are critical to ensuring the reliability and performance of our avionics systems, contributing directly to the success of our aerospace missions.

Avionics Technician 1

Job Summary

The Avionics Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics equipment and systems for our aerospace vehicles. This role involves performing basic equipment setup and maintenance activities while learning industry best practices in a hands-on environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair avionics equipment and systems

  • Perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities

  • Use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry

  • Learn and perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes

  • Adhere to shop safety requirements and proper use of PPE

  • Learn and apply 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness in daily tasks

  • Follow correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality workmanship

  • Document and report issues or discrepancies identified during inspections and tests


Minimum Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of related experience (entry-level)

  • Familiarity with general shop practices including PPE and safety requirements

  • General mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency

  • Ability to use precision measurement tools

  • Ability to learn precision cleaning and chemistry processes

  • Willingness to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols

  • Ability to learn proper packaging and handling requirements for hardware


Preferred Qualifications

  • Progress towards formal training or education in avionics, electronics, or related technical field

  • Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification

  • Basic experience with avionics systems (navigation, communication, flight control)

  • Basic ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams

  • Familiarity with testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators)

  • Interest in learning diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques

  • Basic understanding of RF principles in avionics systems

  • Experience with soldering and crimping techniques

  • Understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols

  • Demonstrated knowledge of correct packaging and handling requirements for hardware

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or related technical field

  • Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification

  • Demonstrated experience with avionics systems (navigation, communication, flight control)

  • Thorough understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols

  • Expert knowledge of correct packaging and handling requirements for hardware

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or related technical field

  • Current certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification

  • Extensive experience with complex avionics systems (navigation, communication, flight control)

  • Expert proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams

  • Advanced experience with testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators)

  • Comprehensive knowledge of software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting

  • Typically 8+ years of related experience.

  • Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements.

  • Ability to perform advanced equipment setup and maintenance activities and display advanced mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency.

  • Able to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry.

  • Advanced knowledge of precision cleaning and chemistry processes.

  • Advanced knowledge of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness.

  • Ability to demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware.

  • SME/Lead for a Work Center.

  • Ability to provide input to Test Engineers for test setup and test procedures.

  • Specialization in 2 of 3 test work centers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or a related technical field.

  • Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification.

  • Experience with avionics systems and equipment, including but not limited to navigation, communication, and flight control systems.

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

  • Familiarity with avionics testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators.

  • Knowledge of software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting of avionics systems.
