Sierra Space is hiring Avionics Technicians to support aerospace vehicle development. These positions ensure the reliability and performance of avionics systems critical to our missions.
Location: Broomfield
Shift: First Shift: Mon-Thu, 6am-4pm (Overtime on Friday)
Avionics Technician 1
Entry-level position responsible for installing, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing avionics equipment and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair avionics equipment and systems
- Perform basic equipment setup and maintenance activities
- Use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for non-flight parts
- Learn and perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes
- Adhere to shop safety requirements and proper PPE use
- Learn and apply 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness in daily tasks
- Follow correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality workmanship
- Document and report issues or discrepancies identified during inspections and tests
Minimum Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of related experience
- Familiarity with general shop practices including PPE and safety requirements
- General mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency
- Ability to use precision measurement tools
- Ability to learn precision cleaning and chemistry processes
- Willingness to learn 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols
- Ability to learn proper packaging and handling requirements for hardware
Preferred Qualifications:
- Progress towards formal training or education in avionics, electronics, or related technical field
- Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification
- Basic experience with avionics systems (navigation, communication, flight control)
- Basic ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Familiarity with testing equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators)
- Interest in learning diagnostics and troubleshooting techniques
- Basic understanding of RF principles in avionics systems
- Experience with soldering and crimping techniques
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Compensation Level 1: $22.74-$31.28/hr
Avionics Technician 2
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years of related experience in avionics or similar technical field
- Demonstrated familiarity with shop practices including PPE and safety requirements
- Proven mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency
- Proficiency using precision measurement tools
- Ability to perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes
- Understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols
- Demonstrated knowledge of correct packaging and handling requirements for hardware
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or related technical field
- Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification
- Demonstrated experience with avionics systems (navigation, communication, flight control)

Minimum Qualifications:

- Advanced mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency
- Expert proficiency using precision measurement tools
- Demonstrated ability to perform precision cleaning and chemistry processes
- Thorough understanding of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness protocols
- Expert knowledge of correct packaging and handling requirements for hardware
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or related technical field

- Extensive experience with complex avionics systems (navigation, communication, flight control)

Minimum Qualifications:
- Typically 8+ years of related experience
- Familiarity with general best shop practices including PPE and shop safety requirements
- Ability to perform advanced equipment setup and maintenance activities and display advanced mechanical aptitude and hand tool competency
- Able to use precision measurement tools and fabricate fixtures for use, including non-flight parts with standard alloys and simple geometry
- Advanced knowledge of precision cleaning and chemistry processes
- Advanced knowledge of 5S, FOD, and ESD awareness
- Ability to demonstrate correct packaging and handling requirements for all hardware
- SME/Lead for a Work Center
- Ability to provide input to Test Engineers for test setup and test procedures
- Specialization in 2 of 3 test work centers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Formal training, degree, or certification in avionics, electronics, or a related technical field
- Certification: Airman's certificate, FCC license, or IPC level certification
- Experience with avionics systems and equipment, including but not limited to navigation, communication, and flight control systems
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Familiarity with avionics testing equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
- Knowledge of software tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting of avionics systems
- Understanding of RF (Radio Frequency) principles and their application in avionics systems

Compensation Level 4: $32.55-$44.77/hr
Compensation
Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
