About the Role

Within Flight Operations, you will join Flight Planning and Design, responsible for planning missions for the Dream Chaser program and supporting real-time mission operations. You will use custom flight design tools based in FreeFlyer and Matlab to design spacecraft trajectories that meet mission needs.

You will work closely with hardware and software engineers, flight science analysts, and other flight control disciplines to integrate products including timelines, procedures, trajectories, and attitudes. You will complete training requirements and participate in training simulations toward flight controller certification. Upon certification, you will provide real-time mission support from our Mission Control Center in Louisville, CO.

What We Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 0 to 2 years of experience, typically entry-level
  • Strong background in orbital mechanics or spacecraft attitude dynamics
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Self-starter and problem-solver comfortable in fast-paced environments
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure as part of a team
  • Ability to learn new subjects and disciplines
  • Must be able to pass flight controller certification and physical examination
  • Position based in Louisville, CO; some shiftwork required during mission operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • MATLAB
  • STK or FreeFlyer
  • Microsoft Office Tools
  • Tool development including GUI in any coding language
  • Technical writing and detailed process documentation
  • Strong foundation in Orbital Mechanics
  • Strong foundation in Spacecraft Attitudes
  • Experience with Kalman Filters

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $77,685.00 to $106,816.50. Your actual base compensation will be determined case-by-case based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
