About the Role
The IT Systems Engineer II manages and optimizes IT infrastructure to ensure reliability and efficiency. You will install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software applications; manage and troubleshoot network configurations and protocols; implement virtualization technologies; develop automation scripts; and design backup and recovery procedures.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software applications
- Manage and troubleshoot network configurations and protocols to ensure seamless connectivity
- Implement and manage virtualization technologies to optimize resource utilization
- Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline IT processes and improve efficiency
- Design and implement backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity
- Perform routine system administration tasks, including user account management, system monitoring, and resource allocation
- Manage authentication and authorization processes
- Administer local and network resources using Windows administrative tools and Active Directory
- Administer networked and distributed computing environments, including routing and remote access services
- Modify deployed group policies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT projects and initiatives
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies
About You
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree)
- Typically 2+ years of related experience
- Proficiency in operating systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Knowledge of networking protocols and configurations
- Experience with virtualization technologies
- Familiarity with scripting languages for automation
- Understanding of backup and recovery procedures
- Familiarity with basic system administration tools and processes: booting/shutting down machines, adding and removing user accounts, using backup programs, managing shared resources such as file systems and printers, and adding workstations to networks
- Understanding of distinctions between system processes/services and user processes, authentication and authorization processes, local and network resources and resource sharing, and basic networking concepts and practices
- For Windows administrators: familiarity with basic Windows administrative tools such as Computer Management and Active Directory tools
- Familiarity with networked and distributed computing environment concepts, including route command usage, routing and remote access service administration, and deployed group policy modification
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced certifications in relevant IT fields (e.g., CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate)
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Proficiency in advanced scripting and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Compensation
Pay Range: $87,156.00 to $119,839.50
Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity, and market competitiveness.
