About the Role

You will lead and execute technical projects focused on ground support equipment (GSE) and tooling across Sierra Space's integrated vehicle product lines, primarily Dream Chaser and Satellites, and secondarily the Solar product line. You will serve as the bridge between Engineering and Program Office, balancing technical, cost, and schedule constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead small cross-functional teams on GSE/Tooling projects
  • Conduct trade studies and technical evaluations
  • Develop Basis of Estimates and provide technical estimation support
  • Oversee design, development, and implementation of engineering projects to meet technical specifications and quality standards
  • Develop and manage Statements of Work with suppliers
  • Coordinate with contracts and quality teams on supplier management
  • Support risk and opportunity management on assigned projects
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Communicate project status to technical and programmatic audiences
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering team
  • Resolve conflicts and represent stakeholder voices including support functions and customers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience, or Master's degree plus 3 years experience)
  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Strong technical foundation in relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience with GSE/Tooling development in manufacturing, test, or ground operations environment
  • Ability to lead small cross-functional teams and projects
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage budget and schedule constraints
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • General knowledge of two or more functional disciplines outside engineering (supply chain, manufacturing, operations, program management)
  • Thorough knowledge of risk and opportunity management
  • Expertise in communicating and coordinating across engineering and functional teams
  • Clear verbal and written communication of technical concepts, plans, and actions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with increasing responsibilities in project management
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with systems engineering and integration
  • Proficiency in project management software (MS Project, Primavera)
  • Experience with CAD software and engineering design tools
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations
  • Product lifecycle management (PLM) experience
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean methodologies
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience developing and managing project budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives

Compensation

Pay Range: $119,064.00 - $163,713.00

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.

Security Clearance Requirement

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
