About the Role
As a Senior Test Engineer at Sierra Space, you will lead and contribute to advanced testing and validation projects of aerospace systems and components on cutting-edge satellite and spacecraft programs. You will work with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and provide guidance and mentorship to early career engineers. You will engage with cross-organizational senior personnel and serve as the prime technical contact on significant programs and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute advanced and complex test plans, test procedures, and test reports to demonstrate compliance with system requirements.
- Apply extensive technical expertise and working knowledge in the execution of Test Engineering tasks, providing innovative solutions to complex technical problems.
- Work without appreciable direction, exercising considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and approaches.
- Guide, mentor, and lead early career engineers in completing job assignments, fostering professional development and technical growth.
- Utilize and master various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies to support validation efforts and ensure the quality of aerospace systems and components.
- Develop and implement creative and effective solutions to complex technical problems.
- Oversee the successful completion of major program milestones, potentially functioning in a project leadership role.
- Interact with cross-organizational senior personnel on significant technical matters.
- Represent the organization as the prime technical contact on programs and projects.
- Prepare and document detailed technical data, reports, and analyses to support engineering initiatives and project decision-making.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to team members, senior engineers, and stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience, or Master's degree with 6+ years experience).
- Typically 8+ years of related experience.
- Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance required.
- Demonstrated expertise in one area of test engineering principles and practices (dynamics, thermal, measurement, HSI, software test, integration, etc.).
- Ability to work without appreciable direction with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and guide early career engineers.
- Extensive technical expertise and working knowledge in Test Engineering job functions.
- Expertise with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with advanced engineering software tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, or TestStand.
- Experience with environmental testing equipment such as thermal chambers, vibration tables, and data acquisition systems.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple high-complexity tasks and priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and apply new concepts and methodologies in test engineering.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in aerospace engineering.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Compensation
Pay Range: $135,695.00 - $186,601.25
Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
