Electrical Engineer, Power Systems
As a member of the construction projects team at our College Station, TX facility, you will design, procure, and build infrastructure with focus on power systems. You will work hands-on with construction project managers, facility engineers, designers, vendors, and internal partners to deliver world-class facility upgrades.
What you will do
- Perform power-specific engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning for critical facility projects
- Develop drawings, design documentation, and reports for manufacturing, industrial, and commercial projects
- Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors through close-out
- Coordinate with electrical utility providers on design and engineering for reliable power delivery
- Interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology
- 3+ years professional experience with design and/or build of commercial or industrial power systems
Preferred experience
- 5+ years in similar role with electrical and power distribution systems (less than 600Vac)
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Knowledge of delta/wye transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, building lighting, facility grounding
- Critical power infrastructure experience: UPS systems, backup generators, automatic transfer switches
- Creating design solutions with minimal business impact
- AutoCAD or Revit (beginner to intermediate)
- Familiarity with National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association, International Building Code
- Reading power and control schematics and equipment O&M manuals
- Variable frequency drives (VFDs), industrial pumps, MODBUS communication, medium-voltage distribution, control panel design
- Troubleshooting and repair support to technicians
- Power coordination and arc flash knowledge
Additional requirements
- Physical ability to work in various environments including heat, cold, rain, and tight quarters
- Onsite work required at College Station, TX facility (remote work not considered)
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Travel as needed
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
