Fabrication Technician (Fluid Systems) - Multiple Shifts
Provide ground support equipment (GSE) support for SpaceX's launch operations at Cape Canaveral, working on the liquid oxygen (LOX) pad, fuel pad, and site facilities.
What you will do
- Build, install, maintain, and troubleshoot GSE such as pumps, tanks, valves, and plumbing systems
- Operate and maintain high-pressure systems, pneumatic components, and ancillary equipment
- Fabricate and repair GSE, hardware, and equipment to specification
- Maintain LOX and fuel farms, including associated systems and equipment
- Inspect all materials and systems according to Clean for Oxygen Service Standards
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment and instrumentation as needed
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop and document GSE activities
- Streamline processes and increase reliability of testing operations
- Obtain and maintain licenses, permits, and certifications as required
- Work nights, weekends, and irregular shifts to meet critical launch milestones
- Support vehicle, launch pad, and development programs as needed
Basic qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1+ years of professional hands-on experience with pressurized, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
Preferred skills and experience
- Aerospace industry, military, or high-reliability operating environment experience
- Ground support equipment experience in aerospace
- Mechanical aptitude and machine work experience
- Formalized mechanical training and skilled hand and power tool usage
- Problem-solving and quick-thinking in critical situations
- Vacuum, hydraulic, and pump systems knowledge
- Borescope inspection equipment knowledge
- Fitting types (NPT, A/N) knowledge
- Precision tube bending experience
- Precision measuring instruments experience
- Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and piping/instrumentation schematics
- Hazardous systems knowledge: cryogenic, flammable, hypergolic, pyrophoric
- High-pressure system design and handling knowledge
Additional requirements
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- Availability for multiple shifts: Monday-Friday 6:00 am to 6:30 pm or 6:00 pm to 6:30 am
- Ability to work nights and weekends when needed for launch milestones
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
- Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, twist, work in cramped positions, and climb hand over hand
- Ability to work at elevated heights up to 100 feet
- Willingness to work in extreme outdoor environments: heat, cold, rain
- Tolerance for work environment with fumes, odors, and noise
- Travel to other sites up to 15% of the time
