Launch Pad Engineer, Fluid Systems (Falcon 9)

SpaceX is seeking a Launch Pad Engineer to join the team at Vandenberg. You will develop solutions to launch pad design, build, and operations, maximizing efficiency without sacrificing safety or reliability.

You will ensure all launch pad ground support equipment (GSE) is properly designed, built, configured, and tested to support Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy. During build operations, you will lead technician teams on the pads to ensure accurate and timely installation and activation of pad fluid systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the responsible engineer for one or multiple launch pad fluid systems including compressible, incompressible, and cryogenic fluid systems
  • Apply knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, controls, and instrumentation to troubleshoot system issues
  • Direct skilled technicians to carry out design, build, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, and operational procedures
  • Contribute to development and improvement of functional automation for your fluid systems
  • Identify and implement hardware, software, and procedure upgrades; drive continuous improvement across SpaceX teams
  • Serve as lead engineer for the pad during design, construction, and activation
  • Present certification packages and engineering data to NASA, US Space Force, and other U.S. government agencies
  • Cover one weekend shift per month

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or related engineering discipline
