Propulsion Technician (Raptor)
You will be responsible for assembly and testing of Raptor rocket hardware and associated sub-assemblies. This is a hands-on role requiring mechanical knowledge, troubleshooting ability, and the flexibility to work on different systems while maintaining safety and quality standards.
What you will do
- Perform assembly and testing work on Raptor combustion devices and thermal protection systems according to procedures and specifications
- Operate machinery including vacuum furnaces, ultrasonic immersion, proof and waterflow booths
- Clean, prepare and assemble combustion device hardware for electron beam welding, TIG welding or brazing
- Read and interpret technical drawings and follow detailed work instructions
- Use precision calibrated tools: torque wrenches, micrometers and calipers
- Operate forklifts, cranes and heavy equipment
- Perform blending, filing and shearing of metal piece parts
- Stage, install, set-up and de-tool Raptor combustion device engine hardware
- Troubleshoot engines and test cell systems
- Operate test cell instrumentation and computer network systems as described in test instructions
- Accept or reject test units based on calculated test data and results
- Maintain a professional and neat work area
Basic qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 1 or more years of experience in manufacturing
Preferred skills and experience
- A&P license
- 2 or more years working on aircraft or rocket engines
- 5 or more years of aerospace engines experience
- Knowledge of pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and propulsion engines
- Strong mathematical, basic computer and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet aggressive schedules
- Ability to operate and understand readouts on automated asset user interfaces and hydrostatic proof booth
Physical requirements
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
- Able to stand for extended periods, 8 hours minimum
- Able to stoop, bend, crawl and maneuver in tight spaces
Work schedule
1st shift, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with overtime and weekends as needed.
Compensation
Pay range depends on level and experience:
- Level 1: $23.00 to $27.00 per hour
- Level 2: $26.00 to $32.50 per hour
- Level 3: $31.00 to $38.00 per hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education and experience.
