Propulsion Technician (Starship)

SpaceX is looking for a Propulsion Technician to support the assembly and testing of rocket hardware for Starship and Super-Heavy. This is a dynamic role requiring mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience, and the flexibility to work on different systems. You will troubleshoot anomalies, work autonomously to defined schedules, and keep safety and quality at the forefront.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional work area and manage tools, valves, tubes, and manifolds for advanced subassemblies
  • Stage, build, test, install, and proof production advanced subassemblies for Starship/Super-Heavy
  • Verify fluids and electrical connections using diagrams for Starship/Super-Heavy propulsion systems
  • Perform pressurized checkout testing and operate testing equipment using computer network systems and test procedures
  • Accept or reject test units based on defined acceptance criteria and document results
  • Work with engineering to resolve non-conformances
  • Perform all work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
  • Set up and operate CNC rotary draw bending machines to tight tolerances
  • Set up and operate CNC tube cutting equipment

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, automotive, or aerospace environment

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • A&P license or ASE Master certification
  • 5+ years of mechanical or similar experience
  • Knowledge of fluid systems, pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and propulsion systems
  • Strong mathematical, computer, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team and meet aggressive schedules
  • Safe and efficient equipment operation

Physical Requirements

  • Stand up to 10 hours per day
  • Sit up to 6 hours per day
  • Push/Pull up to 75 lbs unassisted, 30 minutes to 1 hour per day
  • Overhead reach up to 6 hours per day
  • Walk up to 3 hours per day
  • Lift/Carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, 15 minutes or less per day
  • Climb ladder/stairs up to 1 hour per day
  • Kneel/Crouch up to 6 hours per day
  • Upper body twist up to 6 hours per day
  • Work in temperatures over 80 degrees up to 6 hours per day
  • Stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Safely work at heights up to 500 feet, in confined spaces, and use air purifying respirator
  • Open to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
  • May be required to complete pre-employment physical or medical history review to confirm capabilities
