Sourcing Manager, PCB (Starlink) Verified today

About the role

This is a high-profile, cross-functional position supporting development and production of Starlink satellites. Working closely with engineering and manufacturing, you will execute supply chain strategies to achieve production goals. Functions include material requirements planning, delivery management, dock-to-stock coordination, and inventory management.

What you will do

• Work directly with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies for existing platforms and new product development
• Pull and aggregate demand for hardware used in the Starlink satellite constellation to enable accurate demand signals
• Act as supplier interface for all RFIs, RFPs and RFQs
• Partner with internal stakeholders to run RFX process and evaluation, then implement sourcing decisions
• Manage costs aggressively to ensure adherence to project-specific budgets and forecasts
• Develop should-cost models for competitive cost analysis
• Ensure suppliers are prepared to support prototype builds, ramp-up and mass production with appropriate equipment and materials
• Drive internal and external process improvements to enhance efficiency and implement cost-saving programs with suppliers
• Present value propositions to SpaceX executives on contract awards, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies and critical supply issues
• Develop, manage and maintain strong supplier partnerships
• Implement analytical data management tools to manage supplier performance

Basic qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in one or more of: engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations or supply chain management, material cost control, master production scheduling, or technical procurement/planning with PCB, PCBA or electrical components
• OR 9+ years of experience in the above areas without a degree

Preferred skills and experience

• Experience with printed circuit board and/or substrate fabrication
• Experience with PCBAs, contract manufacturing, electronic component packaging, and/or managing technical supply chains
• Experience managing high-spend portfolios (10M+)
• Experience with MRP or ERP systems, bill of materials, work orders and purchase orders
• Experience with forecasting, demand planning and lead time analysis
• Data analysis skills using Excel, SQL and PowerBI
• Effective written and verbal communication across all organizational levels
• Ability to learn quickly and prioritize in fast-moving environments
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, able to respond quickly to change
• Ability to conduct all activities with integrity and urgency

Requirements

• May need to work irregular hours with global suppliers in different time zones
• Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed
• Willingness to work extended hours and/or weekends when needed
• Based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite. Remote work not considered
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State per ITAR requirements

Compensation

Pay Range Level 3: $120,000 - $170,000. Actual level and base salary determined on case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience.
