About the Role
SpaceX is seeking an experienced RTL design engineer to develop next-generation ASICs for Starlink deployment in space and ground infrastructures worldwide. You will work alongside cross-disciplinary teams spanning systems, firmware, architecture, validation, and product engineering. These chips enable connectivity in underserved, unaffordable, or unreliable regions, directly expanding Starlink network performance and global reach.
What You Will Do
- Evaluate architectural trade-offs based on features, performance requirements and system limitations
- Define micro-architecture and implement RTL in Verilog/System Verilog
- Integrate designs at top level and deliver fully verified, synthesis-clean and timing-clean designs
- Work closely with the verification team to ensure comprehensive design coverage and validation
- Provide timing constraints for IPs and support the physical implementation team on synthesis, timing closure, and formality checks
- Participate in silicon bring-up and validation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science
- 5+ years of experience in RTL implementation
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Ability to solve complex problems including clock domain crossings and power optimization
- ASIC/SoC system integration experience
- Experience with embedded CPU subsystems
- Experience with standard bus protocols (e.g. AXI, AHB, etc.)
- Experience with high speed and low power design techniques
- Scripting skills (e.g. Python, etc.)
- Experience with EDA tools such as HDL simulators and HDL Lint tools
- Strong team collaboration and individual contribution ability
- Willingness to be challenged and learn new skills
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State to comply with ITAR regulations
Compensation
Level 3: $175,000 - $280,000 base salary (determined case-by-case based on experience, skills, and education). Eligible for long-term stock incentives, discretionary bonuses, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, comprehensive medical/vision/dental coverage, 401(k), disability and life insurance, paid parental leave, 3 weeks paid vacation, and 10+ paid holidays per year.
