Sr. Electrical Engineer, Power Systems
SpaceX is hiring a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join the construction projects team at our College Station, TX facility. You will design, procure, and build infrastructure with emphasis on power systems, working across multiple engineering disciplines.
What you will do
- Plan and execute new facility construction and renovation projects focused on power systems
- Perform power-specific engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning for critical company projects
- Develop drawings, design documentation, and reports for manufacturing, industrial, and commercial projects
- Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors through close-out
- Coordinate with electrical utility providers to ensure reliable power to critical site infrastructure
- Interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or electrical engineering technology
- 5+ years of professional experience designing and/or building commercial or industrial power systems
Preferred experience
- 5+ years in a similar role with electrical and power distribution systems under 600Vac
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Knowledge of delta/wye transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, building lighting, facility grounding, and building construction specifications
- Experience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches
- Experience creating design solutions with minimal operational impact
- AutoCAD or Revit (beginner to intermediate)
- Familiarity with National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association, and International Building Code
- Ability to read power and control schematics and equipment O&M manuals
- Experience with variable frequency drives, industrial pumps, MODBUS communication, medium-voltage distribution, and control panel design
- Troubleshooting and repair support for technicians
- Knowledge of power coordination and arc flash
Additional requirements
- Physical ability to perform hands-on work in various environments including heat, cold, rain, and tight quarters
- Onsite work required at College Station, TX facility (remote work not considered)
- Availability to work extended hours and weekends as needed
- Ability to travel as needed
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
