Supervisor, Materials Management (Thermal Hardware Production)
SpaceX's Materials Management team manages the daily receipt, distribution, and issuance of materials critical to building, launching, and recovering rockets. The Supervisor will lead day-to-day activities at our launch site, managing operations and exceeding customer expectations through continuous improvement across all aspects of materials management.
Responsibilities
- Manage an hourly workforce by assessing performance, providing feedback, facilitating conflict resolution, and addressing issues with corrective actions or performance improvement plans
- Lead by example, take feedback from all levels, and motivate your team to achieve results
- Monitor and improve operations, ensuring a safe work environment with a goal of zero OSHA recordable incidents annually
- Ensure business practices follow AS9100 and customer flow-down requirements
- Manage incoming acceptance, storage and issuance of parts, details and hardware into inventory
- Deliver industry-leading customer service, adapting operations to support the mission
- Lead cost-saving opportunities and identify optimization across internal and external operations
- Ensure cycle counting procedures are routinely followed to meet audit requirements
- Assist in control of fleet vehicles, ensuring preventative maintenance and upkeep
- Develop and maintain service routes and material replenishments to meet agreed-upon service levels
- Supervise shipping and receiving operations, coordinating movements into and out of facility and critical point-to-point movements
- Drive projects and changes that contribute to materials management improvement
- Ensure shelf-life storage procedures and proper stock rotation (FIFO)
- Ensure appropriate environmental controls are effective based on material requirements
- Monitor and grow workforce, challenging team members to perform at expected standards
- Monitor and approve employee time-keeping records
- Support and maintain metric goals and objectives for Cape inventory teams
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of professional experience in materials management, supply chain, or production/manufacturing, OR 4+ years of professional experience in materials management, supply chain, or production/manufacturing
- 1+ years of leadership experience leading teams, projects, or people
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, science, engineering, or similar technical discipline
- Completion of a leadership or rotational development program
- CPIM or CSCP certification from the Association for Supply Chain Management
- Lean/6-Sigma experience (green/black Belt certifications)
- Excellent communication and team-building skills
- Organized and self-driven, capable of working independently with little direction
- Ability to work in fast-paced, cross-functional environment
- Experience in aerospace, aviation, or automotive manufacturing environment
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications, SQL and Power BI
Additional Requirements
- Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted; standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends to meet critical deadlines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
