Supervisor, Quality Assurance (Falcon) - 2nd Shift

Lead a quality assurance team delivering flight-quality hardware for Falcon production at SpaceX's Hawthorne facility.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of quality inspectors; drive accountability for team performance
• Supervise completion of Quality Assurance activities using SpaceX processes and systems in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
• Implement training and certifications to maintain a highly skilled, flexible, and capable workforce
• Lead RCCA process: perform root cause analysis, product containment, and recommend and support implementation of corrective actions to reduce or eliminate recurring non-conformances
• Oversee critical characteristic control within the production process, including establishment of necessary equipment and layout requirements

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of experience in aerospace, military, manufacturing, production, or testing environment
• 1+ years of experience leading a team or project

Preferred Skills and Experience

• 2+ years of experience in quality assurance
• Technical understanding of in-process, final quality inspection, and visual inspection methods using borescopes
• Ability to navigate challenging situations using technical knowledge and quality principles
• Ability to communicate status and needed action urgently to all organizational levels
• Leadership experience guiding teams in creating improvement ideas and executing actions aligned to SpaceX Quality Policy
• Previous leadership experience in a technical field with 6+ direct reports
• Practical experience with Quality Management Systems standards (AS9100 and ISO 9001) and Lean Manufacturing
• Experience applying PFMEA / FMECA methods and statistical process control
• Hands-on supervision skills with excellent people management and technical knowledge
• Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
• Experience with precision measurement techniques of metallic and structural components
• Experience with Positive Material Identification
• Knowledge of structures production methods such as safety cable, fastener installation, torque methods, hole, and chamfer verification
• ASQ Certifications (CQM and/or CQE)
• Strong computer and analytical skills including proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, shop floor management software (ERP/MRP), and related technical programs
• Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Failure Mode Effects Analysis
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment with flight quality hardware
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Additional Requirements

• Support second shift schedule: Monday-Friday 2:30pm to 1:00am
• Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
• Able to lift minimum 25 lbs unassisted
• Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed, up to 10%
• Able to distinguish colors

Compensation

Pay range: $115,000 to $155,000 annually, determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
