About the role
The Components Test Organization provides testing expertise for SpaceX flight hardware across all programmes, from R&D and design qualification through production acceptance and failure investigation. You will serve as instrumentation and test expert on the Starship powertrain development team, working hands-on with propulsion components including high-pressure fluid systems, valves, turbomachinery, and injectors for Raptor engines.
Responsibilities
- Serve as instrumentation and test expert on the flight hardware development team
- Develop detailed test plans and campaigns to validate flight hardware
- Lead anomaly and failure investigations
- Define requirements for new automated test systems
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to design and develop test systems
- Train personnel on complex test system processes and operations
- Ensure all testing meets safety protocols at all times
Requirements
Basic qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in physics or engineering discipline
- 1+ years experience working on mechanical, fluid, or electrical systems (internships and project teams qualify)
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in a test-focused role
- Experience in a product ownership role
- Familiarity with mechanical, drivetrain, and electrical engineering concepts
- Experience with mechanical, drivetrain, and electrical measurement devices
- Ability to read drawings and system diagrams
- Experience with propulsion systems including high-pressure fluids, cryogenics, or combustion testing
- Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Additional requirements:
- Able to work flexible hours and occasional weekend support as needed
- Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
Compensation
Level 1: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00
Level 2: $115,000.00 - $160,000.00
Actual level and base salary determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is one part of total rewards.
