About the role
The Components Test Organization provides testing expertise for flight hardware development across Falcon, Dragon, Starship, and Starlink programmes. You will fill the role of instrumentation and test expert on the propulsion hardware development team, with focus on Raptor engine components.
Your responsibilities
- Develop detailed test plans and campaigns to validate flight hardware
- Serve as instrumentation and test expert on the flight hardware development team
- Develop requirements for new test systems needed to test and validate flight hardware
- Work with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to conceptualize and develop new test systems
- Assist with anomaly and failure investigations
- Train personnel on the processes and operations of complex test systems
- Ensure all testing complies with safety protocols at all times
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline
- 1 or more years of experience working on mechanical, fluid, or electrical systems (internships and project teams qualify)
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in a test-focused role
- Experience in a product ownership role
- Experience working with mechanical, drivetrain, and electrical measurement devices
- Experience with complex mechanical and electrical systems, reading drawings and system diagrams
- Experience with propulsion systems such as high-pressure fluids, cryogenics, or combustion testing
- Mathematical, computer, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Additional requirements
- Able to work flexible hours and occasional weekend support as needed
- Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces as needed
Compensation
Level 1: $100,000 to $130,000 per year. Level 2: $115,000 to $160,000 per year. Salary determined on a case-by-case basis based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
