About Star Catcher

Star Catcher is building the world's first orbital energy grid: the Star Catcher Network. Spacecraft connect to receive conditioned energy via existing solar arrays with no retrofit, delivering power from tens of Watts to tens of thousands of Watts.

The Role

As Senior Systems Engineer, you will support development of space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network orbital power grid. You will lead systems engineering across the full lifecycle: requirements definition, design, integration, test, verification, validation, and mission operations.

Your Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, develop and verify lifecycle-balanced system and system-of-systems solutions using interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Serve as focal point for technical issues and coordination between engineering teams.
  • Evaluate customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements and ensure compatibility of physical, functional and program interfaces.
  • Create, track and maintain requirements using state-of-the-art tools.
  • Perform analyses to optimize total system architecture.
  • Lead resolution of technical issues with other subject matter experts and product teams.
  • Write technical policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Support business development for proposals and bids.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in systems engineering.
  • Experience leading space systems development for challenging environments and missions.
  • Experience with MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering).
  • Experience with NASA/DoD lifecycle reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
  • Experience with requirement tracking tools.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in small teams and building systems engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with configuration management practices.
  • Strong communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Experience using software tools for complex analyses (Excel, MatLab, custom tools).

Employment Requirements

U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or eligibility to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State to comply with ITAR regulations. Background check and proof of work eligibility in the U.S. required.
