The Role
You will lead and oversee the development, integration, and testing of complex space systems for space-to-space power beaming spacecraft and the Star Catcher Network.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, develop and verify space systems using an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach
- Evaluate operational and customer needs to define system performance requirements and ensure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces
- Perform analyses to optimize system architecture for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, and certification
- Support requirements management processes, risk management, issues tracking, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment
- Plan and conduct tests to validate systems meet performance criteria and regulatory standards
- Integrate systems into spacecraft and satellites, ensuring material compatibility with design specifications
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of system designs, testing procedures, and project status
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets for systems engineering tasks
- Support business development efforts for proposals and bids
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
- At least 5 years of systems engineering experience in aerospace manufacturing or relevant industry
- Creative problem-solving skills and capability to develop innovative solutions to advanced engineering challenges
- Experience leading the development of space systems for challenging environments and missions
- Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with NASA/DoD lifecycle reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
- Experience with requirement tracking tools
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with configuration management practices
- Effective communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills
- Broad background in systems engineering
- Experience using software tools for complex analyses (Excel, MatLab, custom tools)
Requirements
Master's or PhD preferred. Background check required. You must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State to comply with ITAR regulations.
