About Starcloud

Starcloud is building a network of data centers in space, starting at kilowatts and scaling to gigawatt capacity. Falling launch costs enable abundant energy, radiative cooling, and rapid scaling in space.

The Role

You will design, develop, and test advanced electrical systems for space-based data centers. You take full ownership of complex hardware projects from concept to production and orbital operation, collaborating with leadership and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-reliability electronics for space-based data processing centers
  • Create detailed schematics and PCB layouts using advanced ECAD tools
  • Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal analysis
  • Manage the lifecycle of electrical components from concept through manufacturing, testing, and deployment
  • Develop design criteria, collaborate on system-level requirements, and drive system trades
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans under environmental conditions including vibration, thermal cycling, and radiation
  • Utilize DOE and SPC methodologies to analyze test data and inform design improvements
  • Collaborate with supply chain and manufacturing teams to establish efficient production processes
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and reliability
  • Engage with vendors to ensure high-quality delivery and integration of components

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Proficiency with ECAD software (e.g., Mentor Graphics, Altium Designer)
  • Experience with PCB design, layout, and troubleshooting
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in electrical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal management principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of professional experience in electrical design and analysis, particularly in aerospace, space, or data processing industries
  • Expertise in high-speed digital, RF, and power electronics
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++) for automation and data analysis
  • Experience with PCB design for space applications and radiation-hardened electronics
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills

Compensation

  • Electrical Engineer Level I: $100,000 - $130,000 per year
  • Electrical Engineer Level II: $120,000 - $175,000 per year
  • Electrical Engineer Level III: $160,000 - $200,000 per year
  • Stock options, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives
  • Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and paid parental leave
  • Generous paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave

Requirements

  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to support critical project milestones
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for authorization under U.S. export regulations
