Starpath develops and manufactures technologies to enable human settlement on the Moon and Mars. We are building robotic systems that locally produce essential commodities for a lunar civilization at extreme scale: water, power, and oxygen.
The Role
The Starlight team focuses on advancing space solar power for Starpath's core mission and the broader space economy. Starlight manufactures the lowest cost and highest performance space solar available, powering new satellites and all Starpath equipment on the Moon and Mars.
Responsibilities
- Design, qualify, and bring to scaled production high voltage power conversion for array conditioning
- Flow down system requirements, conduct trade space analysis, and design from system topology to schematic to layout
- Design, manufacture, and test prototype hardware on rapid iteration timelines
- Select manufacturing methods and equipment to achieve low cost scalability
- Interface with adjacent teams to package hardware into viable mechanical systems
- Define qualification and acceptance criteria to achieve reliability in the mechanical, thermal, and radiation environments of space
- Manage hazardous high voltage testing
Required Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years of experience building, testing, and debugging PCBAs
- Ability to learn skills and theory quickly to meet project requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with high efficiency DC power converter design
- Experience in defensive design against high voltage effects including primary and secondary arcing, partial discharge, and insulation breakdown
- Experience harnessing economies of scale in space applications
- Experience with acceptance and qualification standards for terrestrial PCBs (IPC) and spaceflight (NASA STD)
- Capability to develop hardware on rapid timelines
- Capability to own hardware from prototype to production
- Capability to build test support hardware and facilitate test campaigns
