AIT MGSE Engineer Verified today
The Exploration Company is building spacecrafts for humanity. We need an AIT MGSE Engineer to design and deliver the ground support equipment required for our next capsule preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with Engineering and AIT colleagues to understand and refine MGSE requirements and timelines for assembly and testing activities.
- Conceptualise, design in CAD with manufacturing drawings, procure and commission the MGSEs.
- Confirm design compatibility with external loads using mechanical analysis, hand calculations and proof tests.
- Discuss MGSE designs with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility and optimal processes.
- Follow up manufacturing and procurement with suppliers, answer technical questions and ensure timely delivery.
- Provide instructions and support assembly, commissioning and implementation of MGSEs.
Required Experience and Skills
- Mechanical or Aerospace engineering degree with focus on machine or structural design.
- Minimum 2 years CAD design and drafting experience using Siemens NX or similar.
- Minimum 2 years FEA experience using Hypermesh or similar tools.
- Understanding of machine design, manufacturing processes (machining, welding), design for manufacturing and GD&T.
- Knowledge of margin calculation methodologies for beams, bolted joints, welds and similar applications.
- Good documentation skills for design descriptions, assembly instructions and test reports.
- Creative problem solving and technical troubleshooting abilities.
- Basic hands-on mechanical assembly and simple machining experience.
Desirable Experience
- Design of test setups, jigs and fixtures.
- Planning and execution of mechanical tests in-house.
- Previous space AIT and MGSE design experience.
- German language skills (English required).
