About the Role

The Exploration Company is developing a precision lunar lander with reusable operations capability. You will join as AIT MGSE Engineer to design and deliver the ground support equipment needed for lander assembly, preparation and testing, including activities at a dedicated test site in the United Arab Emirates for hot-fire propulsion testing and hopper flight demonstrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Engineering and AIT colleagues to understand requirements and timelines for MGSEs needed for assembly and testing activities.
  • Conceptualise, design (CAD including manufacturing drawings), procure and commission the MGSEs.
  • Confirm design compatibility with external loads using mechanical analysis, hand calculations and proof tests.
  • Discuss MGSE designs with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility and optimal processes.
  • Follow up manufacturing and procurement with suppliers, answer technical questions and ensure timely delivery.
  • Provide instructions and support assembly, commissioning and implementation of these MGSEs.

What You Bring

  • Mechanical or Aerospace engineering degree with focus on machine or structural design.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in CAD design and drafting using Siemens NX or similar, and FE analysis using Hypermesh or similar.
  • Good understanding of machine design, manufacturing processes (machining, welding, etc), design for manufacturing and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with standard margin calculation methodologies for beam design, bolted joints, welds and similar applications.
  • Experience planning and executing mechanical tests in-house is a plus.
  • Strong documentation skills including design descriptions, assembly instructions and test reports.
  • Creative approach with innovative ideas and technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic hands-on experience with mechanical assembly and simple machining tools such as drilling machines.
  • Previous experience in space AIT and MGSE design highly appreciated.
  • Good English communication skills; French is a plus.
