You will design, test, and optimize avionics equipment, ensuring compliance with mission loads and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Point of contact and full owner for one avionics unit from concept through flight model
  • Owner of unit documentation, Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and requirements flow-down
  • Owner of box-level Fault Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Coordinate all disciplines working on a unit: electronics design, mechanical design, system engineers, test team and EGSE team
  • Coordinate and run test campaigns (Engineering Model, Qualification Model, Flight Model) covering functional and environmental tests including vibration, shock, thermal vacuum and EMC
  • Analyse test data after test campaigns
  • Define roadmap for unit improvement between models and between flights
  • Work closely with functional chains (thermal, ECLSS, propulsion) to plan system-level tests with units embedded
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in avionics design

What You Need

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on experience in avionics equipment design for aerospace applications
  • Proficiency in avionics design tools and software
  • Understanding of space-relevant standards (ECSS, MIL-STD, NASA-HBK) and regulations
  • Knowledge of safety-critical design principles
  • Familiarity with Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) aspects including FMECA and FDIR
  • Familiarity with environmental and reliability considerations in avionics design
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
  • Meticulous attention to detail in design, analysis and documentation
  • Hands-on mentality at testing and problem debugging in laboratory
