About the role

The Exploration Company is building propulsion systems for space transportation. You will join the Future Project division as a Combustion Engineer, responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing combustion devices for cryogenic rocket engines.

What you will do

  • Develop global combustor fluidic systems using theory and CFD analysis
  • Drive injector design and optimization against combustor requirements using theory or CFD
  • Define instrumentation for hot-fire testing and support post-test data interpretation and CFD correlation
  • Reduce and analyze hot-fire test data to derive performance and combustion-stability metrics, maintaining data processing tools
  • Support design reviews with clear technical justification of analysis methods, assumptions, and margins

What we're looking for

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • 3+ years relevant experience in combustion, propulsion, or reacting-flow engineering
  • Solid foundation in bi-liquid rocket combustion processes
  • Strong background in reacting-flow CFD (ANSYS, OpenFOAM, Converge) using RANS and/or LES
  • Strong scripting and data-analysis ability in Python or similar
  • Exposure to liquid rocket injector CFD
  • Experience with combustion of cryogenic propellants
  • Beneficial: familiarity with combustion instability, thermoacoustics, or uncertainty quantification
  • Beneficial: experience supporting or participating in hot-fire test campaigns

How you work

  • Structured and methodical approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrated rigor: check reference calculations, document assumptions, treat discrepancies between prediction and test as problems to solve
  • Ability to work under technical uncertainty and iterate models as test data becomes available
  • Clear written and verbal communication of assumptions, methods, and conclusions
  • Comfortable working in cross-disciplinary teams across thermo-mechanical, systems, and test engineering
  • Strong analytical rigor and attention to detail

Why join us

  • We make decisions fast while keeping goals and systems in mind
  • We are transparent about risks and obstacles to cooperate and overcome them
  • We work on democratising space with a rare opportunity to shape the future
