The Role
The Exploration Company is building spacecraft for humanity. You will develop the electronic systems needed for our capsule to fly as an FPGA engineer.
What You Will Do
- Write VHDL code to validate all needed functions in the FPGAs
- Provide inputs to the team designing digital circuit boards with FPGAs and microcontrollers for the space environment
- Design and validate digital interfaces circuitry (CAN, RS422, UART, I2C, SPI, Spacewire)
- Write first test software for the system to validate interfaces and hardware functions
- Validate design and ensure failure tolerance and radiation tolerance of functions
- Lead digital electronics architecture design and FPGA design and verification
- Work closely with Systems Engineers to define capabilities and requirements of digital functionality
- Oversee full test cycle from first power-up of prototypes to serial test concept of flight hardware
- Create and adapt test scripts in Python for test automation
What You Bring
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Embedded Systems or similar (relevant work experience can substitute)
- Relevant work experience in FPGA or SoC design and/or verification
- Experience using Microchip Libero or Xilinx Vivado
- Solid VHDL and Verilog knowledge
- Embedded software knowledge (MCUs, soft-cores)
- Hands-on laboratory mentality (soldering, prototype board debugging)
- Plus: Knowledge of VUnit and UVVM
- Plus: Knowledge of radiation effects and radiation-related failure mechanisms (Single Event Upsets, Single Event Transients)
- Plus: Knowledge of environmental qualification and relevant standards (ECSS, NASA-HBK, NASA-CBCS, MIL-STD)
