About the Role
The Exploration Company is building innovative aerospace technologies for space transportation. We're seeking a Thermal Engineer to develop thermal architecture, sizing and analysis for future projects. You'll work with mechanical, CAD and systems engineers to assess feasibility and preliminary sizing of thermal systems for new vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
- Design conceptual and preliminary thermal control systems for new space systems, tailored to project maturity and goals
- Provide technical solutions to optimize thermal management, collaborating with propulsion, avionics, ECLSS and other subsystems
- Perform preliminary thermal analyses to justify design decisions
- Communicate recommendations through analyses, reviews, documentation and technical presentations
- Support spacecraft development from concept to operations, including feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, requirements review, system design and documentation for major milestones
- Manage procurement, request for proposals, supplier evaluation and selection, testing and validation of thermal hardware
- Provide operational analysis and post-flight support
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Heat Transfer and Fluid Mechanics, or related field
- Proven experience of 3 or more years with Active Thermal Control System development and procurement
- Hands-on experience with thermal testing including Thermal Cycling, Thermal Vacuum and Thermal Balance tests
- Thermal analysis expertise and understanding of spacecraft thermal environments and subsystems (structures, avionics, propulsion)
- Proficiency with thermal software such as Thermal Desktop or ESATAN
- Programming and data analysis skills in Python, MATLAB or C++
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluent in English
