Join The Exploration Company as a Software Engineer for Mission Control Software. You will develop mission-critical software that powers integrated testing and mission operations, building tools used by flight controllers and engineering teams across our ground segment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop robust software for testing and mission operations
- Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment
- Build scalable systems that support expanding mission activities
- Collaborate with testing, engineering, and operations teams to understand operational needs
- Write performant, maintainable, and well-documented code
- Ensure reliability through automated testing and operational validation
- Support users and improve development workflows and tooling
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering culture
Required Experience
- Backend development using Python and/or Ruby (on Rails)
- Frontend development with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js, or similar)
- Object-oriented programming concepts and design principles
- Message brokers or event streaming systems (Redis Streams, Kafka)
- Building systems for real-time data processing and ingestion
- Object storage solutions (MinIO, AWS S3) for large datasets
- Version control systems such as Git
- Automated testing frameworks
- Design and maintenance of scalable distributed systems
- Software design patterns and engineering best practices
- Agile software development environments
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving
