About the Role

As a Summer 2027 intern at The Exploration Company, you will work on crewed vehicle development. You will design, develop, test, and improve engineering systems and technology under the guidance of a mentor.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with engineers to design, develop, test, and improve products, systems, or processes.
  • Contribute to real-world engineering projects and deliverables.
  • Apply engineering principles and coursework to solve technical problems.
  • Develop, test, debug, and document technical solutions, tools, or prototypes.
  • Analyze data, identify trends, and provide recommendations to support engineering decisions.
  • Participate in design reviews, team meetings, and technical discussions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, reports, and project updates.
  • Support testing, validation, and quality assurance activities.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Three months or more of relevant engineering experience through prior internships, co-op programs, or industry projects.
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) due to ITAR/EAR regulations.
  • Able to work full-time (40 hours per week) for a minimum of 12 weeks beginning May 2027.
  • Able to provide your own relocation and housing (relocation assistance is not provided).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.
  • Six months or more of relevant engineering experience through prior internships, co-op programs, or industry projects.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience through academic projects, student organizations, internships, research, personal projects, or technical hobbies.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for learning new technologies and applying engineering principles to real-world challenges.
  • Proficiency with relevant engineering tools, programming languages, or technical platforms related to the role.
