TRL 11 is a venture-backed deep tech and defence tech startup bringing cutting-edge video technology to aerospace applications. We are based in Irvine, CA and seeking a Senior Electrical / Electronics Engineer with expertise in camera and edge processing technology.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of video, camera, compute, and storage systems and related electronic components, including image sensors, image processors, high-speed persistent memory, high-speed digital busses, interconnectivity and physical layers, connectors and harnesses.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, mechanical engineers and product managers to define video system requirements and specifications.
  • Perform block diagram, circuit design, schematic capture and PCB layout for camera subsystems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Research and stay current with emerging camera technologies and trends.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues during development and production phases.
  • Work with Test Engineers to develop and execute test plans for imaging and storage system performance, image quality and reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturers to ensure timely, cost-effective production while maintaining quality standards.
  • Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement of products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (advanced degrees preferred).
  • 5-10+ years hands-on development experience specializing in video or camera technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of video recording systems, digital camera systems and image sensors (preferred).
  • Experience designing or testing aerospace systems to military or spaceflight standards (preferred).
  • Fluency in circuit design, schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer or Cadence.
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces including MIPI, SLVS, USB, Ethernet and HDMI.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and debug complex electronic systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and protocol analyzers.
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems, firmware development and software-hardware integration.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Track record of successfully delivering video-related projects to market on time and within budget.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $130,000 to $220,000 depending on experience.
