The Role

We are seeking a Controls Engineer II with SCADA expertise to drive the design, implementation, and maintenance of a custom SCADA platform and integrated equipment across Ursa Major's propulsion manufacturing facilities. You will work on system scopes from bench-level equipment through multi-facility staged processes.

You will develop Ursa Major's SCADA platform, user interfaces, data historian, and data warehousing alongside PLC, instrumentation and control, and manufacturing engineers. Your focus is implementing solutions for robust, efficient, and safe propulsion manufacturing with strong operator experience at the center.

What You Will Do

• Develop Ursa Major's SCADA platform for advanced, digitally integrated manufacturing
• Set standards for SCADA implementation across multiple manufacturing facilities in northern Colorado
• Work with platform and software engineering to build robust data pathways and data aggregation between systems
• Design operator-first HMI for equipment operation using Ignition and Siemens TIA Portal
• Participate in equipment development with attention to product specs, process requirements, layout, cost, and lead times
• Build and manage tag-based database tables, sequences, and queries
• Work hands-on during equipment build alongside engineers and technicians
• Create documentation, operator manuals, and work instructions for operation and maintenance
• Contribute to internal production equipment standards and requirements documentation

What You Need

• BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• Experience or familiarity with Ignition SCADA and HMI, or similar platform
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment and collaborate across departments
• Demonstrated ability to balance multiple stakeholders' requirements and deliver on time
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for long periods, working on ladders, kneeling, crouching, working in tight spaces, and lifting up to 25 lbs

Preferred Experience

• BS degree in Mechatronic, Chemical, Mechanical, or other engineering field
• Familiarity with ISA standards
• Experience designing, operating, or troubleshooting automated equipment
• Machine network design and industrial communications
• PLC experience with Siemens or other platforms
• Building industrial electrical control panels with Eplan or equivalent
• Specifying and integrating sensors and actuators
• Designing fluid systems (hydraulic or pneumatic)
• Deploying, configuring, and maintaining PostgreSQL or other databases
• Familiarity with NEC, UL, and related industrial standards
• Production experience in ISO 9001 or AS9100 certified organizations
• FMEA, LOPA, System Safety and Hazards Analysis

Compensation and Classification

Base compensation range: $90,000 to $113,000, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Full-time Exempt.
