Vantor is hiring a Satellite Operations Engineer for the Longmont, CO office. This is an onsite position with a rotating shift schedule working 24/7 coverage on a five-week rotating basis.

What You Will Do

  • Perform pre-contact verifications with Mission Control Systems Ground Control Engineers to ensure successful communication between ground systems and spacecraft
  • Ensure spacecraft tasking and planning produces error-free output to reduce faulting risk across the Vantor constellation
  • Conduct in-contact spacecraft commanding and state of health assessments to maintain spacecraft health and safety
  • Perform out-of-contact spacecraft telemetry trending and analysis to ensure continued health and safety when spacecraft are out of ground station view
  • Fully investigate spacecraft limit violations and escalate violations not covered in documentation to Flight Operations Manager or Spacecraft Engineering
  • Recognize and escalate anomalous spacecraft conditions to Flight Operations Manager or Mission Director
  • Maintain awareness and comprehension of system changes to ensure operational compliance
  • Follow established procedures and checklists, reporting operational deficiencies to the Operations Efficiency and Transition team
  • Generate spacecraft availability reports for the Spacecraft Engineering team
  • Execute necessary ground limit changes to reflect current operating state and long-term telemetry trends per Flight Ops Manager or Spacecraft Engineering direction
  • Maintain proficiency on all spacecraft subsystems throughout the Vantor constellation

Minimum Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Associate's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field; two additional years of operational experience may substitute for degree
  • Minimum 2 years in an operational environment
  • Ability to work 24/7 rotating shifts on a five-week rotating schedule

Compensation

Base pay for this position in Colorado is $74,000 to $98,000 to $107,800 annually. Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, skills, location, and market conditions. This position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and individual results.
