Vantor is hiring a Senior Systems / Electronics Engineer to join the SpaceWrx team in Westminster, CO. This hybrid role offers in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote work Monday and Friday.
The team develops end-to-end next-generation satellite constellation systems, defining architecture and requirements for mission, vehicle, and payload elements. You will work with industry suppliers during manufacturing, integration, and test, and support launch and on-orbit operations.
What you will do
- Manage the technical interface between imaging payload and spacecraft bus, ensuring compatibility and joint performance optimization across electrical, mechanical, thermal, and data interfaces
- Lead and participate in system-level trades to evaluate design alternatives, performance vs. cost/risk trade-offs, and technology insertion opportunities
- Model and evaluate payload-level power, data, and timing interactions; contribute to electrical interface control documentation (ICDs)
- Evaluate emerging technologies, COTS/FoS hardware, and new mission concepts with focus on system-level integration feasibility
- Contribute to design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and work across disciplines to ensure payload systems meet performance, reliability, and environmental constraints
- Assess and troubleshoot emerging payload and bus designs down to circuit level, leveraging electrical engineering and electronics design experience
Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizen with active secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical field
- 7+ years of experience with space-based optical remote sensing payloads or similar hardware systems
- Demonstrated experience with spacecraft-payload interface development and electrical interface analysis
- Experience working across functional teams in space segment development
- General software tools experience (MATLAB, Python) and ability to learn new tools
- Understanding of requirements development documentation (specifications, ICDs) and processes
- Ability to interpret and analyze schematics, block diagrams, and PCB layouts
- System-level implications analysis from hardware-level changes
- Familiarity with FPGAs, processors, memory, and storage devices
- Experience working across organizational boundaries (payload, spacecraft, ground teams)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Physics
- Electrical systems engineering experience for space platforms, including radiation effects and parts derating/qualification
- Modeling tools experience (STK, SPICE, HFSS, signal integrity/power analysis software)
- Familiarity with imaging payloads (visible, multispectral, hyperspectral) and performance metrics (SNR, MTF)
- Fault management, redundancy architectures, and design for reliability in long-duration space missions
- Space industry quality and standards frameworks (NASA GSFC, JPL, ECSS, MIL-STD-1547, IPC standards)
Compensation and Benefits
Base pay for this position in Colorado: $109,000 - $145,000 - $159,500 annually. Pay will vary by location based on geographic cost of labor. Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, skills, and market conditions.
