About the role
Vast is developing next-generation space stations and space infrastructure. Haven-1 is expected to become the world's first commercial space station when it launches in 2027. You will join as Senior RF Engineer reporting to the Director of RF Engineering, supporting the design and build of human-rated space stations.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in Long Beach, California.
What you will own
- One or more RF products from development testing through mission service
- Subject matter expertise over RF component purpose and function in the overall RF system
- Design, manufacturing, testing, integration and delivery schedule coordination with interfacing teams and project management
- Documentation and peer review of work output through trade studies and design reviews
- Relationships with cross-functional teams: mechanical, test, manufacturing, thermal and avionics engineers
- Vendor management, communicating requirements, deliverables and schedule clearly
- Test plan and procedure definition for acceptance and qualification testing
- Checkout test definition and documentation to validate operation during and after vehicle-level integration
- Subject matter expert support to mission operations
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or other relevant engineering or science discipline
- Familiarity with RF test equipment
- Familiarity with digital RF communication theory, components and fundamentals
- Familiarity with programming
- Product management experience
Preferred skills and experience
- Expertise with detailed concepts in RF communication
- Expertise with lab measurements for RF systems
- Familiarity with RF antenna and propagation concepts
- Familiarity with design for space environments
- Experience using standard CAD/EDA tools
- Detailed familiarity with RF components
Compensation
Senior RF Engineer: $147,600-$209,520 USD, depending on experience and demonstrated capability.
