Cable Harness Engineer, Voyager Lunar Systems

Based in Pittsburgh, PA (hybrid). Reports to Electronic Systems Manager.

What you will do

  • Design wiring harness assemblies for lunar landers and other flight vehicles that survive harsh environmental conditions
  • Ensure compatibility of all wiring harness components
  • Perform bend radii checks, voltage drop analysis, and harness mass calculations
  • Execute parts standardization and resolve issues with connectors, backshells, shielding and associated parts
  • Select connectors, including Mil-Spec and high-reliability interconnect types
  • Define design parameters including twisting, shielding, and gauge selection
  • Create 2D harness schematics and harness layout drawings for in-house manufacturing and external vendors

Minimum qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years wiring harness design experience for military, aerospace, or space application
  • Prior experience manufacturing wiring harnesses for military, aerospace, or space application
  • A.A. or B.S. or related experience

Preferred qualifications

  • Knowledge of DWV, Hi-Pot, and IR testing
  • Knowledge of NASA-STD-8739.4A and AS50881
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461G or equivalent EMI compliance design and testing experience
  • Experience with Solidworks and Solidworks Electrical or equivalent (Zuken, AutoCAD, CREO)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification and Class 3 inspection experience
  • 3D harness modelling experience
  • Knowledge of space environmental tests (TVAC, Shock/Vibration, EMI testing)
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering

Requirements

  • Up to 10% travel
  • Must be a U.S. Person (US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3)) to comply with ITAR and EAR export regulations
