About the Role
The FPGA Engineer for our Products line designs cutting-edge components for space and national security applications, including Software Defined Radios, Digital Processing Systems, Space Rated Cameras, Star Trackers, and Laser Communications. This role is onsite in San Diego, CA, and reports to the VP of Product Design.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and test complex, high-speed FPGA designs (primarily Xilinx) implementing high-throughput algorithms
- Design and test embedded applications using the Xilinx Zynq family
- Develop architectures compatible with embedded Linux environments
- Design and support top-level system simulations
- Translate system requirements into FPGA architectures
- Implement and document FPGA designs using HDL (VHDL, System Verilog, etc.)
- Support systems integration and Test Engineering to produce functional designs
- Implement and contribute to the architecture of multi-megapixel camera systems using Camera Link and SpaceWire standards
- Design systems for Imager data handling and Image processing (Embedded Camera Development)
- Create test plans to ensure integrated performance meets specification
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience with firmware design, integration, and test (preferably with the Xilinx family)
- Experience implementing and documenting FPGA designs using HDL (VHDL, System Verilog, etc.)
- Experience with lab equipment
- Experience drafting comprehensive technical documentation
- Able to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance

- Capable of multi-tasking and working on multiple projects while supporting production activities
- Strong technical background with ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Good communication skills and ability to work individually and collaboratively
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range: $125,000 - $185,000 USD. Relocation assistance may be provided to qualified candidates.
