RF Engineer
Voyager is seeking an RF Engineer to join our Products line in San Diego, CA. You will work on new RF subsystem designs based on customer requirements and resolve issues with existing designs. This is an onsite role reporting to the VP of Product Design within the Engineering department.
What you will do
- Derive and document RF subsystem requirements (upconverter, downconverter, power amplifier, low-noise amplifier) from system or top-level requirements
- Produce RF schematics to capture design intent
- Layout or guide layout of printed circuit boards based on schematic
- Validate designs; troubleshoot and test complex RF circuit boards and assemblies
- Develop RF test procedures and perform them when needed
- Support manufacturing of complex PCBAs and resolve integration issues
- Provide system integration and test troubleshooting support
- Meet aggressive schedule deadlines
- Support design and development gate reviews with documentation
- Support customer meetings
- Participate in proposals and trade studies; evaluate contractor proposals for technical feasibility
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or Master's degree with emphasis on RF
- 5+ years of experience in RF hardware and schematic design (preferably Altium) from UHF to Ka-band
- Experience designing low-noise amplifiers and power amplifiers up to 10W at Ka/Ku-band
- Analysis, simulations, PCB layout (preferably Altium), and test experience from UHF to Ka-band
- Experience with RF test equipment and lab practices
- Ability to multitask on multiple projects and production activities
- Strong technical background and ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of space environment design issues including EMI/EMC, radiation, temperature, shock, vibration
- Knowledge of Python, C/C++, MATLAB, and scripting/test automation
- Experience with EDA software such as Altium, AWR/MWO, Genesys/ADS
Compensation and benefits
Base salary range: $125,000-$195,000 USD (based on experience, skills, and location). This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive.
