About the role
As RF Engineer, you will work on new RF product designs and solve issues with existing systems across our portfolio. You report to the VP of Product Design and are based onsite in San Diego, CA.
Your responsibilities
- Derive and document RF subsystem requirements (up-converters, down-converters, power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers) from system-level specs
- Produce RF schematics to capture designs
- Layout and guide layout of printed circuit boards based on schematics
- Validate designs; troubleshoot and test complex RF circuit boards and assemblies
- Develop RF test procedures and perform them as needed
- Support manufacturing of complex PCBAs and resolve integration issues
- Provide system integration and test troubleshooting support
- Meet aggressive schedule deadlines
- Support design and development gate reviews with documentation
- Support customer meetings
- Participate in proposals and trade studies; evaluate contractor proposals for technical feasibility
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or Master's degree with emphasis on RF
- 5+ years of experience in RF hardware and schematic design (preferably Altium) from UHF to Ka-band
- Experience designing LNAs and power amplifiers up to 10W at Ka/Ku-band
- Analysis, simulations, PCB layout (preferably Altium), and test experience from UHF to Ka-band
- Experience with RF test equipment and lab practices
- Able to multitask and work on multiple projects while supporting production
- Strong technical background; quick to learn new technologies
- U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
- Must meet U.S. export control requirements (ITAR/EAR); applicants must be a U.S. Person
Preferred qualifications
- Knowledge of space environment design issues including EMI/EMC, radiation, temperature, shock, vibration
- Experience with Python, C/C++, MATLAB, and scripting/test automation
- Experience with EDA software such as AWR/MWO, Genesys/ADS
Compensation and benefits
Base salary: $125,000-$195,000 USD (based on experience, skills, and location).
