About the role

Voyager Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to shape the future of lunar technologies and missions. In the Advanced Programs group, you will define end-to-end mission concepts for NASA, government, and commercial customers, directly influencing the technologies and architectures that drive Voyager's lunar pursuits.

This position is based in Pittsburgh, PA and can be onsite or remote.

What you will do

  • Develop and review new concepts and designs of lunar landers, rovers, surface power systems, and spacecraft.
  • Support technical content creation for proposals, R&D, and mission opportunities.
  • Develop system-level technical vision for new products, connecting customer needs with feasible solutions across hardware and software.
  • Develop and perform trade studies to support technical, business, and programmatic decision-making.
  • Perform system-level analysis and sizing of space systems, generating high-level MELs and PELs.
  • Develop and manage mission concept of operations, requirements compliance and derivation, launch vehicle requirements, fault management, interface control, V&V plans, and technical risk mitigation.
  • Contribute to programmatic topics including schedules, resourcing, and budget estimates.
  • Communicate with engineering disciplines, partners, customers, and vendors to resolve technical risks.
  • Participate in customer and partner technical interchange meetings.
  • Translate customer requirements into actionable product goals and system architectures for proposals and stakeholder presentations.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to ensure engineering solutions comply with mission, business, and technology roadmap needs.

Required qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline plus 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience. Advanced degree considered in lieu of equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of: space system development, systems engineering, structure/thermal design and analysis, avionics, power systems, propulsion, orbital mechanics, electrical systems, mechanical and fluid systems, software and controls, or manufacturing.
  • Experience developing technical content for proposals and external customer presentations.
  • Experience authoring and decomposing mission and system-level requirements.
  • Strong understanding of launch, space, and lunar environments.

Desired qualifications

  • Understanding of full mission solutions.
  • Experience with mission architecture development.
  • Experience with reliability analysis.
  • Knowledge of NASA and industry engineering standards.
  • Experience working in agile environments with Confluence and Jira.
  • Eligibility to obtain and hold a U.S. security clearance.

Compensation and benefits

Base salary range: $175,000-$195,000, depending on experience, skills, and location.
