About the Role

The Senior Systems Engineer for space technology is responsible for supporting the development of systems engineering processes, leading milestone reviews, and guiding a multidisciplinary team through analysis, integration, verification, and validation. The position reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and is based in Houston, TX or Cleveland, OH.

Essential Functions

  • Define, trace, and manage system requirements across lifecycles using digital tools, while identifying interface requirements and controlling interactions across system and subsystem boundaries.
  • Lead the technical team in developing and executing verification and validation plans, and ensure systems meet quality standards through established quality control procedures.
  • Develop and review integrated system architecture through trade studies, leveraging system modeling and analysis to support technical decision-making.
  • Manage stakeholder needs and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to transform requirements into design inputs, while facilitating integration of technical and program objectives.
  • Monitor and control processes to coordinate design changes and their impact across subsystems, ensuring alignment with organizational quality standards.
  • Provide technical and logistical support for milestone reviews, evaluate performance criteria, support the validation process, and prepare technical progress reports.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university required
  • Master's degree preferred

Experience:

  • 7 to 9 years' experience in a related field
  • Experience identifying interface requirements and managing interactions across system and subsystem boundaries
  • Experience utilizing digital requirement management tools to define, trace, and integrate system requirements across lifecycles
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through analysis, integration, verification, and validation
  • Experience leading milestone reviews and presenting to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience developing and reviewing integrated system architecture using trade studies
  • Experience with system modeling, analysis, and quality control procedures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Space Hardware industry
  • Experience with system engineering and/or requirements management software tools (MBSE), and familiarity with engineering simulation, modeling, and/or analysis software
  • Experience with numerical reliability and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Travel and Physical Requirements

  • Travel up to 30%, including the possibility of overnights, both foreign and domestic, to launch sites, customer facilities, and NASA/Government centers
  • Ability to lift, move or carry items or equipment up to 10 pounds
